W.A.L.T: Multiply by 100

Triathlon Writing

W.A.L.T: Describe a moment in time.
Triathlon snapshot

Here I come racing round the sharp corner of the dirt mountain going round and round this is so intense one behind the other of as they go I’m racing trying to get in front of where I was. My face was so red my face it had the intention of determination. I was looking straight ahead then I’m there I put my brake on what a horrible screeching noise it made, I dump my bike I see at less 100 more. I was thinking I can do it I can do it. I jump off in a hurry running to the finish line with a few people behind me I see the crowd cheering for me I blush a little, my shoes were fill with water I felt so heavy like a truck has over loaded with weights I knew I was ready to drop then I made it as soon as I crossed that finish line boy was I proud then I drop to the ground with a burning body but feeling proud of what I had accomplished .

Swimming Sports Snap Shot

A moment in time - Swimming Sports snapshot.

Purpose: To describe a moment in time
Sharing our swimming sports experience with others.
A lovely sprinkle of  water washers on my face, I look up and I see the people cheering  in a loud roaring tone I start to feeling proud.

I up my gmae pushing my hardest my bones are burning.

Then all of A sudden I’m racing I’m I am neck a neck with Saffron and Sophie then Saffron hit the finish line Sophie is just in front of me then  I power my arms up to the wall and just made it into second place!

Charter Sketch

W.A.L.T: To describe in detail.

My Nana

We pulled up the drive and then next minute I’m heading for the door I quickly go through the beautiful garden I see the red, pink and purple flowers I pull the red door open then I smell the scumesiouse  roast cooking I look up its my Nana she is knitting a red, white and blue blanket for my cheeky brother Gus she see’s me and her  words are “look who’s here.”

I say “hi Nana, can I stay the night?” my Nana says “sure dear” I was over the moon, then hours pass by I’m starting to get bored but  too afraid to admit it
so I decided to watch T.V  I put it on the music channel then an old old song comes on my Nana starts singing with a terrible croaky voice it sounded like a cat having a fight Nana goes on and on then when she had finally finished her horrible singing her wrinkled but beautiful face with makeup tattooed on  looks up at me and said was I good I say year, thinking not,

My Nana always has this look when I do something wrong she will frown with all the wrinkles up the top of her face, Nana never leaves the house without makeup or without her sandy blonde hair done and the best thing I get from Nana is her spongy soft cuddles.
I love my Nana she does lots for me and we share great memories together and we look forward to more.
By Grace!

Wellington Water ban

Here are the questions that I answer about the Wellington water ban.

Questions for the water ban.
1. Find quote from the main person in this news article?
Wellington Regional Council “People who are caught using water outdoors could result in a fine of up to $5000”

2. In your own words describe what happened in this news article. Well there hasn’t been enough water and this is causing serious problems so where people get their water from like rivers and etc. have dried out from the lovely hot weather, in Wellington, they only have 19 days left of water so they have stopped people from using water outside.

3. Find out where this event took place and include some information about this place. Wellington and it is the capital City of New Zealand.

4. Tell us when this event happened and explain what might happen in the future. 14th of March 2013 and if they don’t go on with this water there will be no water left.

5. Explain in your own words why this event took place.
This is affecting Wellington because all the hot weather has dried over the last couple weeks. So  the Wellington Regional Council has decided to put a stop to people using water outdoors and this has happened lately so they are going to run out of water so time soon.

6. Use the Dictionary in the bottom right hand corner to find the meaning of 3 words from the article. Irrigation: supply water to (land or crops) to help growth, typically by means of channels. Prohibited: that has been forbidden and banned. Reservoirs large natural or artificial lake used as    source of water supply.

Koru Art

WALT: Use symbols (koru) to represent something special to us.

Before black dye wash.

After Black dye wash.
In class and with our buddy class we have been learning about koru symbols. I have used these symbols to represent my family,  my Mum is the big purple one she is big because she is the boss at her house a takes care of me and my sister and brother she is purple because that is soft and gentle like my Mum. The reason My dad is the biggest of all is he is big and strong and he is the boss of his house and we are all connected because we love and care for each other. Then my sister is coming off my Mum because she is splitting image of my Mum and me and my brother coming off my Dad because we are a lot like my dad.

The biggest challenge for me was putting on the white because I could not see the gaps and so if there were gaps then the black dye would get in the places where I wanted completely white.

This is the process we went through.

1 We had a chat about the korus and who we wanted to inclued.
2 We looked at some photos of some art
3 We practice some designs
4 Then we did a draft
5 Then used chalk pastel as a outline on our real one
6 Once we done our outline we chose 2 main colours (Cool and warm)
7 We coloured in our korus
8 Then we made sure there was no 'mouse holes'
9 Once we done that we done a double outline witch was quite complicated to leave white and fill in some bits colour.
10 then we wash over black dye and lightly dab it with a tissue.

Kowhaiwhai Blurb

WALT: Use symbols & patterns (to communicate important ideas)

TASK: Create a kowhaiwahi panel that uses symmetrical patterns to tell our story.

In class we have been doing kowhaiwhai art and showing our life thorough art and this helps people understand our family in a interesting way.
I have done two koru's in a heart shape to show my parents and then 3 children to show myself my brother and my sister. The colours I have chosen are black and red. I chose those colours because they are the originally colours in Maori colours art. We use symmetry, I used rotation and reflection as part of my art. I decided to put my family in a heart to show we love and care for each other we are all connected and related.
